In this class, learn how to make popular Thai fried noodle dishes from scratch. You'll appreciate the similarities and differences between Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles). More importantly, you'll use a tested procedure and a set of culinary tips for making fried noodles of all kinds with any protein or vegetables you choose.
We’ll walk you through ingredient selection, substitutions, techniques and equipment adjustments for the home kitchen. Chef Laura will demonstrate each of the noodle dishes and you’ll get to sample Pad See Ew (crispy fried umami noodles with Chinese Broccoli) and Pad Kee Mao (pan fried noodles loaded with fresh summer basil, chilis and crisp veggies). Then you'll practice frying up your own batch of noodles, with your choice of veggies, sauce and protein - chicken, egg, shrimp or tofu. Finally, you’ll walk away with a long list of cooking skills to apply towards future at-home take out dishes.
This is a hands-on in person class. You will make your version of one the following:
