At Teaching Table, dumplings provide a yummy vehicle for anything that needs using up. To celebrate Lunar New Year, learn how to stuff dumplings with what you have, as well as a few traditional fillings.
In this class, you will learn how to make dumpling dough from scratch (green or purple and plain). You’ll then raid your fridge for an assortment of leftovers and ingredients that can be mixed into dumpling fillings. Chef Laura will walk you through how to prepare proteins and vegetables for optimal texture and pair condiments and seasonings for banging flavors. You’ll gain inspiration for future dumpling creations from your classmates.
We’ll roll out our dough, use store bought wrappers as well, and fill and shape dumplings in at least 4 different ways. Finally, you’ll learn how to steam and pan-fry your creative little flavor bundles, and even get that crave-worthy dumpling skirt!
Note: Chef will also provide recipes for 3 classic Chinese dumpling fillings, but the live instruction will focus on creating flavor combinations of your own using on-hand ingredients.
All ages welcome and encouraged.
This is a virtual hands-on class. There is some prep required. You’ll receive a detailed ingredients, materials and prep list at least 2 weeks in advance or upon registration. You will have freezable leftovers!
